"Tremendous Value for the Price!"

Pros

Options include; 4 HDMI 1.4a inputs that support 3D. Audyssey auto speaker setup simplifies a normally time consuming task. The AVR-1611 supports ARC (Audio Return Channel) technology to allow input and output of the audio signal on one HDMI cable.

Cons

I paid less than $400 and have as many or more features then some higher priced equipment. Denon builds high quality receivers. However the lack of a switchable plugin outlet for another component was disappointing, I used it for my JBL PB10 Sub.

Summary

Having owned previous Denon components, I was familiar with the reliability, quality and sonic clarity of their AV receivers (My previous AVR-1908 suffered a lightning strike). Having owned previous Denon components, I was familiar with the reliability, quality and sonic clarity of their AV receivers (My previous AVR-1908 suffered a lightning strike). I currently have a 7.1 surround sound speaker setup in my home powered by the Denon AVR-1611, and it delivers with amazing sound while watching either a Blu ray movie, or gaming with my XBOX 360. Also, listening to music via this receiver is a real pleasure. All around, I would highly recommend the Denon AVR-1611 for anyone looking to purchase a surround sound receiver for a manageable price.

I had to convince my girlfriend that we needed a good reciever in order to enjoy our 48 inch 3D LCD, so she told me I could spend up to 400 on the reciever. In all honesty I didn't think it would be possibe to get one with all the bells and whistles I wanted. Well I was wrong. I saw an add for the Denon 1611 and couldn't believe it had all the high definition codecs along with being 3D compatible. All for just under $300. Setting the speakers up was quite easy especially using Audyssey which calibrates your audio system for great sound throughout the listening area.
