Pros: Build quality
Power
Clean and clear sound
7.1
Automatic surround speaker calibration system with mic
Simple remoteCons: Parts of the manual are cryptic and difficult to understand.
Thankfully someone has translated Denon manuals into user friendly language at this link http://batpigworld.com/index.htmlSummary: Has more features than I use or need and has the power and sound quality to produce an exceptional home theater and music listening experience. I'm quite happy with it.

"Compatibility Issues and Very Poor Customer Support!" on by tommyd193
Pros: Multi Zone and Network capable
Cons: Incompatible with some Samsung LCD's, & very poor customer support!
In my opinion Denon uses evasive business practices to avoid product returns, exchanges or refunds.Summary: Purchased the unit and set it up, the video would black out intermittently. After several iterations with on-line support the tech finally advised me to take the unit it to the service repair center. After changing a video card same thing happened exactly as before, two more trips to the service center still no luck. Denon then sent me a nicely "repackaged and refurbished" unit in place of my new one. Turns out I found the problem to be the TV it was hooked up to, a brand new Samsung 46inch LCD. So now I want my money back but Denon says no because of how long it took to figure out the problem, despite e-mail trails and audit records from day 1. It was their process that I followed as instructed and now I'm penalized because it's out of warranty. I even tried to trade up for a better and more expensive unit, but no dice. Denon is taking the position that if my TV is the problem then they don't have one.
Now I'm stuck with a used and once broken unit that doesn't even work with the media center I purchased it for!
If it had a label on the box saying this unit may not work with all TV's it never would have made in the shopping cart in the first place. Stay Away! -
"Avoid this reciever!" on by srksrksrksrk
Pros: They know how to put chips from other high quality manufacturers into a box and hook them together.
Cons: The main Denon parts of this system are the control firmware and the customer support. Both are abysmal. Calls to the customer support line were a waste of time. They weren't knowledgeable or helpful or nice. The system is largely nonfunctional.
Summary: Example of problems that after about 15 months remain unsolved: Switching from an SD channel balow 100 to an HD channel above around 230 (this varies but is consistent to 239) fails with a red screen and no audio. The fix is to start changing channels down until it finally clicks in.
The back panel shows a composite TV input labeled. The default in the input assignment list is to disable this input. This mystifies me.
Changing input destinations in the input destination screen usually, but not always, fails until the unit is power cycled.
The ethernet input is totally non-functional. This input is not shown in the input list. Further, when I go to the setup acreen that has the "Network Connecting" pick on the menue, selection of this pick does not take me to the network setup screen. If fact it does nothing.
This is by no means an exhaustive list.
This is very sad. I had such high hopes for this receiver. I bought it as part of a really nice system that I bought for my retirement. All other components work beautifully. I'm going to have to dump this receiver and buy something else. Maybe an Onkyo.... After that, instead of a Denon Blue Ray player, I'll be buying Oppo.
My friends know as an EE and someone who does a lot of research on this sort of thing. They honor me with some respect for my opinion. I will be discouraging them all from buying Denon anything. -
"DO NOT BUY THIS AVR - WARNING" on by passerby024600
Pros: This is a great unit, but it breaks down and Denon offers the worst of the worst for customer support.
Cons: We have 3 of these to date as when we bought the first one, we loved it. But then they have all fallen apart and are all in warranty repair, the longest being 64 days and counting.
The units all have network problems and functionality that crashes. IfSummary: DO NOT BUY for Denon. I have to say, when these were working, they are fantastic units. I made the mistake of buying two additional units for installation in different parts of the house. I started having problems a couple of months later and there is no end in sight. All three of my Denon systems are no longer working. One failed due to a failed firmware update that Denon recommended. NEVER, EVER update a Denon. If something goes wrong, it becomes a brick and you must send it or drive it to a place with will take months to get it back to you.
The second and third AVR3310 have failed due to a network card failure and an HDMI card failure.
I just cant believe this. All my time and money tied up in units that Denon is well aware of the existing problems. Everywhere I searched on these issues and it looks like hundreds or more have the same exact problem but no recall from Denon.
The warranty company in Mountain View Ca says they get these problems with this unit all the time. This is a $1900 unit (new) and this is the kind of problems they have???? I dont remember the sales people telling me they would not work after a couple of months.
Very shameful Denon. Make this right for all of your customers that were duped into beleiving this was a quality product. Change our minds by correcting these known issues. -
"No Better Receiver Under $1000 Anywhere" on by psimmiano
Pros: Its feature pack reads like a Christmas wishlist: 5 HDMI 1.3a inputs, an ethernet input, the ultra-smooth Anchor Bay Upconversion chipset, an amplifier section that outplays most separates. Denon quality. Price that slays the competition.
Cons: Remote that needs replacing.
Summary: There has been a lot said and written about this incredible receiver. For me there is only this: Wo! In all my days of listening to music (yes, I am that old), I have not heard such beautiful sounds emanating from such a product that at first blush struck me as a behemoth that encapsulated everything wrong with consumer electronics today; Too much quantity, not enough quality. I was wrong and in spades! Through every facet of the AVR-3310ci's performance, the legendary quality of Denon shone through, especially the audio. My music is of the utmost importance (mostly Jazz)and it simply flowed marvelously through the -3310ci into my Vienna Acoustics Bach/Maestro/Mozart and Velodyne set-up. The change I made from an Adcom separates system to a receiver and the associated reservations I had disappeared within moments of hitting the "enter" button after the Audyssey's last step. It was enlightening to say the least.
