"PLEAE DO NOT BUY ANY PRODUCT FROM IDEALAV.COM."

    by bid1996 on August 8, 2005

    Pros: Good Receiver

Cons: No warranty if you buy from unauthorized dealers

Summary: I have purchased Denon 3805 receiver with Ideal AV. This receiver looks like very old and the serial number has been altered. Denon does not provide any warranty for products purchased from Ideal AV. Customer service from Ideal AV is so bad that we could not even return this product. They don't just answer the phone.

It is very dispointing right now. I don't know what to do now.

PLEAE DO NOT BUY ANY PRODUCT FROM IDEALAV.COM.

All these other comments resonate to my experience with IdealAV. They cancelled my order (apparently no stock after all) and then, after I had gone elsewhere for the product, reinstated it and shipped. They then charged me a 15% restocking fee on the returned item that they cancelled! This organization is unsurpassed for pure NY chutzpah. I'm still trying to get my 15% back.

I attempted to buy a Sony Digital Video recorder. They sent me the wrong unit, when I called them, they promised to send me the correct unit and refund the $60 postage it cost to return the wrong unit. The email customer service finally (after a month) said they did not have the correct unit and whould not refund the postage.

Not worth your time and effort to deal with this company.

Ordered a LCD TV as a present and it took weeks to show up. They also charged $100 for "insurance" after promising free shipping. I hope someone at CNET is reading these comments and takes Ideal AV off the list. BTW, have had pretty good experiences with Amazon, of all things, would recommend them.

I received a JVC Camcorder with missing parts. After going several rounds and getting bounced back and forth between JVC and IdealAV, IdealAV told me to mail the camera back and my own expense and they would refund my money. They then took a $72 deduction for the PARTS THAT WERE MISSING IN THE FIRST PLACE.

Now they've hung up on me 4 times today and won't talk to me anymore.

IdeaAV is the worst company I've every dealt with. Ordered a home theater system. It arrived damaged. 3 months later, they have not made a refund. Fortunately, my credit card company has refunded my money.

IdeaAV is just awful to deal with.

I had a similarly bad experience with them. From what I've seen, you either get a product at a good price late, or you they simply never ship your product in which case you are just out the credit card charge and the time you waste calling them to find out what happened.

I purchased a 56" DLP from them on 6/10/05. Received it on 6/24 - so far so good. Opened it to the sound of broken glass - the mirror had broken in transit and scratched both the screen and the lens. Samsung investigated the damage, determined it was "uneconomical to repair". Contacted IdealAV. Damaged set was picked up by TeamAir on 7/15. OK - a little slow but still OK. The nightmare begins. IdealAV said they did not receive my fax of the Samsung report. Faxed it again. Phone call confirmed they received it (all calls were with Robert Anderson, their Customer Service deflector). Three weeks later - email from IdealAV saying I must contact Samsung for an evaluation - they had no record of the previous 2 faxes. Faxed a 3rd time. Got confirmation email that they had it and had faxed it themselves to the shipper for claim. No word, repeated calls, with Robert stonewalling and referring to their "terms of sale". Would not define what was missing on my claim. Called TeamAir - they have no record of the claim, referred me to Robert Anderson, saying he was "always very helpful". Called 3 times, left message - no return call. Sent email on 8/26 saying I would be involving the Attorneys General of NY and NJ if no response in 5 business days. Still no response. They have both my damaged set and my $2700 and will not return my calls. AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!
