The AVR-5803 surround receiver inherits the critically acclaimed amplifier design characteristics of the AVR-5800 while adding Denon's much improved DDSC-Digital sound processor for greater diversity in multi-channel reproduction of digital and analog signals. The AVR-5803's objective is to bring out the maximum performance potential of all types of sound sources. This model also provides a video conversion function for greater monitor connection flexibility, the added convenience of variable subwoofer crossover switching that will ensure a listening environment that is as close to ideal as possible. With its support of THX Ultra2 and a wealth of other features, the AVR-5803 has become Denon's latest "Surround Reference" A/V receiver for serious home theater enthusiasts.

Granted, owning seperates is always better (as far as sound quality goes) but this reciever does just such an excellent job, that buying seperates isnt going to give you all that much more. My opinion is that the Denon AVR5803 is the absolute best compromise between sound quality and price. When I found out it used one of the best D/A converters on the market, I knew that this was the reciever I needed to own, and most of all, one I could live and be happy with. This reciever will actually make you look over your shoulder during movies, no matter how much you are used to surround sound. The sound is awsome, panning around the room sounds seemless, Build quality is excellent, Easy to use on screen menus for setup or calibration, did I mention this reciever sounds awsome ?!? I cant imagine anyone being disappointed with anything that has to do with this reciever, except maybe the remote (but with a reciever that sounds so good, I wont complain). Denon did a fantastic job once again, im not suprised.

I love this product. I have two of these receivers one is for my Sony 65" HDTV widescreen. I also use it with my 200" HDTV Projection system. As you can see I am big on these home theater systems. This receiver is great for music too, it has enough inputs for my projection system were i have meetings there. See i was looking for a system that would allow me to have wonderful sound for a confrence and would match my Dual Athlon MP 2000+ System. A little hint this receiver and the creative labs audigy platinium Ex card sound great together. Hope i was helpful in this review bye!
