"Please, Denon is NOT Hi-End despite the $$$."
4.0 starsonPros: While some may think $6K is a lot for a piece of audio gear there are many who don't. There are many, including myself who have many thousands of dollars invested in their gear. Denon is NOT audiophile quality. NEVER has been. They are not even Class B. T
Cons: While cutting edge Video-Wise & Digital-Wise(great DVI-D, HDMI, Firewire, Etc). It leaves a lot to be desired from the Analog Audio sonics side. Not Audiophile Class A equipment despite the $6K price tag. Since it's not Audiophile class and it's not f

Ain't America wonderful! Enjoy your affluence. Higherfi.com serves an entertaining purpose. I don't bother exclusive home theater consultants. I built a Heathkit in 1960. Never made big bucks in 45 years. Never aspired to "ultimate" components. State of the art changes rapidly. At times my expert advise has been from engineers. My older stereo has a NAD amp modified for $150 by NASA engineers. I only recently upgraded speaker wire from lamp cord. A successful life is humility achieved from spiritual understanding. My nice home, car, etc. cost a small fraction of those who play with big boy toys. 'Tho self indulgent for me, my hi-fi and a/v are pretty darn respectable. Bloviated attitudes are a waste. I just hope you pay your fair share of taxes.

I have to disagree with your assessment of the Denon AVR-5805. First and foremost, I'm not exactly sure how you can comment on any piece of equipment without first auditioning it. Your review indicates that you simply read the specs and then rendered your judgment.<br><br>Secondly, it appears that you think that spending more money on something means it's going to sound better. You mentioned cables - cables which cost more than this receiver. Both double blind A/B/X tests and empirical signal data have shown that even the most critical listeners cannot discern between 14AWG lamp chord and $1000/ft high end cables. However, you seem to have fallen prey to the idea that exorbitant amounts of money automatically equals an "audiophile-level" product. In its purest form, the term "audiophile" simply refers to the discerning person who seeks to accurately and precisely reproduce the original performance (whether that be a move, concert, etc.). It appears that you've gotten too carried away in the dollar amount attached to equipment to render an accurate judgment on its ability to fulfill the above "audiophile" requirements.<br><br>I'll point you to the Audioholics.com review of this receiver (http://www.audioholics.com/productreviews/avhardware/DenonAVR5805p1.php). I'm not sure where you'll find better flexibility, performance, or pure numbers in any separates out there (note the data on the analog and digital signal output measurements), but if spending a couple $10K extra over the moderate $6K price tag of the Denon makes equipment sound better in your head, then I suppose that's your personal preference and it works for you. However, I'd caution you against presenting your very subjective and biased opinion as fact.
