"Denon AVR-588"
Pros: Great features, good design, solid built quality
Cons: Dual-sided remote, no HDMI audio, no TrueHD
Summary: This is an excellent receiver for people who don't want to spend too much money in their first or second home theatre setup.
I like how it automatically saves your settings for each input.
I don't have a large space, so the 588's power more than fills the room with a decent set of speakers.
The dual sided remote is somewhat weird, but you don't need to use it too much.
I would've liked if it had audio processing and TrueHD feature via HDMI, but you'll have to pay a bit more for AVR-788 or Onkyo models for that.
All in all, this receiver offers the most bang for your buck for sub $400 receiver.
