"Excellent audio processing. Set up straight forward" on by Thunderhog
Pros: HDMI in HDMI out. Plenty of power with excellent sound processing on SACDs and BlueRay. HDMI pass through.
Runs cool. Clean, Musical Denon sound. Build quailty.
Accurate audyssey distance measurements.Cons: Yes, the manual. But, once you have the onscreen display on, the set up is as straight forward as it gets. Less featured remote than 3310CI model.
Summary: Upgraded from 5.1 Denon 2801 to the Denon 990 7.1 HDMI. The front height feature saved adding extra rear speakers and gave added effect to movies as well 7 channel stereo. I have owned Onkyo, Marantz, and 3 Denon amps and my personal preference is Denon. I upgraded my TV, amp, and DVD from 1080i and HD to BlueRay and 1080P.
Panasonic TC-P50V10
Oppo 83
Denon AVR 990
Cambridge MC 500 x 3
Cambridge S 300 x 2
Cambridge Model 17 x 2 for height feature
Velodyne SPL 1200 x 2
Previewed the Earth Stood Still on BD and it was the only thing that stood still. My pant's legs are still flapping from the low end. Everyone played nice together with the Denon at the con. Our HT system has evolved. -
"Buy this unit if you have a want to pull your hair out!" on by richard35--2008
Pros: There are absolutely NONE. Buy one if you do not believe me.
Cons: I wanted a receiver that does not require a rocket scientist to hook up and Brand Smart suggested this lousy unit!!! It took 2 days to get hooked up and working. The manual is poorly written, disorganized and incomplete.Their support people told me that

"Don't Waste Your Money" on by Consumor
Pros: The functions intentions are good and it kind of worked for a while.
Cons: I had my first AVR for five months. The ethernet quit. Had it in the shop for over a month. They replaced it a week ago. THE SECOND DIED AFTER TWO DAY!
Summary: This is not your fathers DENON. I cannot believe the amount of time I have wasted struggling with TWO defective units. My faith in this CHINESE EQUIPMENT is circling the toilet. Not to mention the lack of good service.
