It's a really good Receiver

Pros: Easy to setup without the Auto setup

Cons: I have a new LCD and i can't program the remote to work it

Review: I really like my TX-SR602 the only thing i dont like is i can not get the remote to work with my tv.I just got a new Magnavox LCD and i tryed all the codes in the 602's manual but with no luck.So i have to have 2 remotes with me all the time and that sucks.I ask Onkyo for help but they did not know how to help me program it.They say there's no more code's for it just the one's in the manual. But other then that i really like the 602.

CNET's right, you need a $40 Radio Shack meter

Pros: Best solid reciver for the money

Cons: Remote will cost you $53 to replace

Review: I got this receiver in Dec. on a day when J
+R was in a holiday mood...a cool $300 w/free ship. The clicks you hear when you turn it on are a sign of top quality relays. With their own branded speakers (HT-520's) the sound might be a little laid-back without some video to pay attention to. Instrurments sound realistic and don't become fatiguing. Helicopters sound like they're right outside. You get all the availible processing modes. When you fire-up a DVD the receiver will select an appropriate mode, but you can decide if you prefer DTS over Dolby Digital. You'll have many choices. As for the provided microphone that auto sets up the speakers, it's good for starts, but you need to buy yourself a $40 or so sound meter which will help you with a number of things, like softening up harsh sounds and finding sweet-spots for the subwoofer. Get those speakers the same volume at your listening position and you will then see why the industry went from two speakers to six/seven. And you will begin to see the reason for THX and the conveyance of art...for arts sake. This Onkyo receiver will do it for you...on the cheap.

didn't keep it - maybe a defective unit bought an HK

Pros: looked nice

Cons: couldn't get it to keep settings, static and popping through speakers, hard to set up

Review: i bought this unit, tried for 6 hours to get it set up and sounding properly (never did). did not retain my settings whenever the unit was shut off - sound quality was horrible. not sure if this was a bad unit but all i had were problems with it. took it back the next day and bought an HK635 - which i absolutely love. i know onkyo's good but in my case it wasn't.
