"Great audio, component video scaling issue"
Pros: Awesome sound, easy configuration
Cons: Component inputs scaled to 4:3
Summary: I just got this, and loved the sound quality and adjustability. My only beef (but it is a decent one) is that the unit scales my component inputs to letterbox.
I took the same component device right out of the back of the receiver and plugged directly into component (same input) on the TV and it is at the appropriate aspect ratio (not stretched, but native signal) like it should be. Called tech support, and, after a 15 min hold time, some nudnik from Jersey said that the receiver does not have any scaling options - it "does what it does," so the only option is to go back to using my TV as my hub. That is not why I spent the money on this thing, though I will keep it for its awesome audio quality.
HDMI sources seem to work fine and retain proper aspect ratio.

if you go to the reviever, then click setup in a none component or hd input a menu will pop up and you can change the letter box (4:3) to the 16:9 scale.

I just got the SR 605 about 4 days ago and am slowly going through the manual. On page 82, On Screen Display options, you can determine if the output is 4:3 or 16:9. I have not been able to test this out since I currently have a 4:3 CRT and will not get a HDTV for a few weeks.

This unit will take a native 4:3 image from a component device and stretch it to 16:9, and there is no way to change it back? Please help me to understand this correctly.
Thanks
