"Goodbye Harman Kardon 254, Helo Onkyo 607!!" on by Jhummrich

    Pros: Amazing Sound Quality
    Easy to setup
Dolby True HD & DTS HD with Uncompressed Audio over HDMI.
6 HDMI Inputs! Component Inputs aren't shared by HDM
    Inputs assignable, can be renamed.
    Direct Stream Audio support
    Great compatibility with HDCP devices.

Cons: No 6.1/7.1 Analog inputs but the only thing I need this for is my SACD/DVD-A player It does support Direct Stream Audio but I've put my SACD player away since the format is dead....
No S-Video I can use my TV input (If ever needed)

Summary: Bottom line is that I spent many HOURS trying to get the Harman Kardon AVR-254 to work with my older Hitachi Rear-pro. No matter what I did the AVR-254 would never display an image from any source for more than 2 seconds before going to digital noise. I literally tried everything and spent hours or days trying to make it work without success. It did work with my Samsung LCD but I still LOVE my rear projection TV for movies and cinema viewing. After 3 returns and many failed firmware updates I took the AVR-254 back and waited for the Onkyo 607. Boy was I nervous when I hooked it up but it was flawless. The EQ2 sound setup was great, i agree that it set my Subs and Bass levels a little too high but that was easily changed. The remote works with my Xbox 360, Toshiba HD DVD XA-1 and A-3, Motorola Cable and Hitachi TV. Since the Play station 3 is Bluetooth I can't use it for that but I blame sony on that front. Sound quality is Superb and I don't see myself needing to replace this receive for a LONG time. I'm super picky with my electronics and I couldn't be happier with the Onkyo-607. You can definitely tell that Integra is the parent company because they've paid attention to making a great product.

    Bravo Onkyo!!
