"Finally, an AVR that works as advertised!"
Pros: Fast, efficient setup, easy operation, great audio and video
Cons: Auto Speaker Setup measures only one listening position.
Summary: My very brief review covers only my first impressions - Setup through initial operation.
Documentation is well written, guides you through tasks rapidly and is easy to understand.
Setup was 100% successful on the first effort.
Audio and video surpassed expectations.
Only odditiy so far - HDMI from source to AVR with Optical from source to AVR then HDMI to TV produces best results.

After living with the Onkyo 804 for a about a week we discovered a very irritating "hum". The "hum" was not present while watching Directv, it was, however, present in all other modes. It seems the "hum" was caused by any type of video connection between the Onkyo and our Sony KDFE42A10. We tried two different 804's and worked with Onkyo's, Sony's and independent technical support staffs. The conclusion was that sadly, the "hum" is a permanent attribute of the Onkyo TX-SR804. We returned the 804 for a different brand AVR.Updated
With additional technical help I discovered the "hum" was not the fault of the Onkyo 804 but infact due to a ground fault issue with my DVD player. Once the DVD player was replaced no further "hum" was present.
While it is a fact that even with the DVD ground fault issue there was no "hum" type interence when using my previous AVR I once again strongly recommend the Onkyo TX-SR804B AVR. My only additional advice would be to keep in mind that the 804 seems to be more sensitive to the power operations of other components.
