"Better Than I Expected"
Pros: Reon video chip, HDMI inputs, amplifier
Cons: Remote control is OK, but not spectacular
Summary: I bought this after planning to buy the Yamaha 3800. The Onkyo was replacing a Denon AVR5700 which was Denon's best in 2000. I wanted the HDMI inputs and the video processing. However I wasn't sure the ONKYO would perform as well as the Denon in the power area. I was wrong. The ONKYO sounds better than my old Denon and it cost a lot less than the Denon too. A friend steered me toward the TX-SR875 and I'm glad he did. BTW-some people talk about the heat from this thing. No big deal. After and hour of loud music (my wife wasn't home!) I placed my hand flat over the hottest part of the amp. Hot, yes, but not nearly as hot as my old Son of Ampzilla use to get with only 80wpc. Some people are probably new to products with high current amplifiers. Oh, I left my hand there for quite some time too-no burns!
