"Outstanding Audio sound" on by mrpaul

    Pros: Clarity, crispness

    Cons: A bit large

Summary: If one desires an audio video receiver with true 1080P scaling, and absolutely clear, clean and concise audio reproduction, this is the unit for you. Listening to demanding cd tracks, this unit did not falter in delivering crisp and truly realistic sounds.

"great sound and great features" on by dwyer1979

Pros: excellent sound and looks. has everything you could ever need for blu-ray movies, makes the extra expense seem like money well spent. it will always pick the best listening mode's

Cons: there are a lot of options and thay are not very easy to understand.

Summary: O.K. this was a very expensive way to enjoy music or movies but well worth it if you have the $. you can enjoy your movies on a much less expensive system but no ware as much. this system puts the sound just where you want it. it has a small speaker that comes with it that you put in the middle of the room that helps with setup, and it is just gorgeous to look at. I was thinking of getting a Onkyo 805 but backed out and got this instead and am glad I did. I hope you will consider the pioneer elite vsx-92txh.

"Excellent receiver, definitely elite" on by wilsonca

Pros: Automated speaker setup, hdmi upconversion, sound quality, looks

Cons: 100 page manual, GUI could be better, different 75 ohm FM attenna connection.....european style?

Summary: I have been looking for receivers for some time. I had two yamaha receivers before I started looking at Pioneer's. Settled on the 92TXH as it had a great feature set for the price, primarily HDMI upconversion. This set is paired with a recently purchased panasonic 50" plasma, so the HDMI upconversion was important to me, also plan on upgrading to a blue ray or HD DVD player in the future and perhaps other hdmi peripherals so this was a must due to the video switching capabilities and number of inputs (3) of this receiver. Purchased this from shopDigital corp, great price and good service. The speaker setup was a snap, I have two Polk audio Monitor 60's up front which I bi-amped with cables from bluejean cable. Also purchased bananna plugs and hdmi cables from these guys (highly recommend). Two boston acoustic rear surrounds, a yamaha center channel and a sony 150W sub round out the system. Sound is killer, renders high definition signals to the plasma perfectly and upconverts my DVD/DVR perfectly as well. The only real problem has been trying to connect my Terk amplified indoor antenna to the 75 ohm connection on the back. It's not a standard F connector in threaded coax but some other type of connection....maybe european style? Anyway, I've gone through two adapters from radio shack with no luck, I'll keep trying until I get it right, please respond if you've figured this out. will update when I do.

"best A/V receiver under $2K" on by mcman7

Pros: great sound, abundance of useful features

    Cons: can't think of any

Summary: I've been shopping for a new receiver for the past 4 months and had to choose this Pio. You can't go wrong with comparable Denons or Yammies, but if you prefer for the audio to sound bright and crystal clear (and with no shrill) the Elites are the kings in that department. Set up was a peach. Remote, while not the best on the planet but not as cumbersome either.
92TXH gives a new meaning to the word "surround" sound.

In response to an earlier post, setting your speakers as LARGE or SMALL have nothing to do with the size of the speakers. Setting them to SMALL would mean all the low frequencies (bass) will be output to subwoofer only, while setting them to large will make some of the bass coming through your main speakers. Also when running the calibration test make sure there's no obstacles between your speakers and the mic, and that there's absolutely no noise in the room. Even with the ambient noise try to keep it at minimum. In my case MCACC calibration worked perfectly well, but I even waited for the fridge to shut up in the kitchen. Hope it helps.

    "Swell unit" on by Iboughtbeta

    Pros: Excellent sound

    Cons: 100 page instruction book

Summary: I purchased this unit because I wanted to upconvert my DVD collection to 1080i via the Faroujda upconverter. It will input component cabels in, to component or HDMI 1.3 out. It will not upconvert to 1080i via the component cables out. Since I only have component connections to my old Mistubishi 55" TV, I cannot receive the 1080i signal from the receiver. The tv does display a 1080i signal via my cable box. So sad. I will have to wait till I purchase a Pioneer Elite 1080 TV that has HDMI inputs. This unit is larger than the old Pioneer Elite receiver it replaced. It is not comfortable in the old rack. I will have to replace the furniture for the flat screen and insure a better fit for this receiver. Considering the price of under 900 delivered via the "Authorized Electronics" online store. It's a very good value.
