"Class Leading Performance!"
Pros: Exceptional Surround Processing. Industry leading auto calibration. Very Strong amplifiers.
Cons: Availibility can be limited due to high sales volume
Summary: This is an amazing A/V Receiver. Don't think that it's just for entry level duty, as its performance extends into competitiveness with receivers up to $1000. Its almost expected these days to have a receiver that can calibrate itself to your specific room, and the Pioneer 1015 has an industry leading auto setup called Auto MCACC. This uses the included microphone that you set that in your primary listening position and just let the receiver set all the levels and delays and correct for reflections and equalize to your specific environment. The result is a sound that is perfectly optimized with your speakers in your room. The amplifiers that are incorporated in the 1015 are very strong and have the warm, full sound that Pioneers have become known for. All types of music and movies are a total joy to listen to. You'll find yourself digging out all of your old favorites because you want to hear how they sound on the 1015. Inputs are plentiful and connection types are current to the needs of a modern day home theater. In conclusion, you'll love the Pioneer VSX-1015, and you'll find it to totally outclass the competing units. I can't find a single fault.

Mr Porterhouse,
Your name is my favorite kind of steak so I thought I would reach out to you with a quick question regarding my Pioneer vsx-1015. I am relatively new to the world of mid-high end home audio (only experienced with HTIB) and recently purchased a set of polk audio 5.1 speakers (Monitor 60 fronts, Monitor 30 surround, PSW10, CSi3 center) and Pioneer vsx1015. I purchased based mainly off reviews I'd seen online regarding the receiver.
I find that I'm not getting as much out of my receiver as I'd expect for HT / movies. After running MCACC many times and doing different variations (adjust sub level, move speakers from "large" to "small", etc.), I find that I am having to put the volume at -15db to hear much of anything worthwhile and -10db if I really want to hear bass and oomph. At -30db or -35db I can hardly hear anything, especially not dialogue or background sound. Sounds like I'm just using my TV speakers.
I have each speaker correctly wired (bi-wired, actually)and placed. I used good 14 gauge speaker wire and am using a coaxial digital audio cable out from my Samsung HD850 to the receiver. My room is only 10X14.. . no speaker is more than 8-10 feet away.
I find that my dad's setup with a weaker receiver and comparable speakers in a bigger room sounds loud/full at -30db on his Denon.
Any ideas? Did I overlook something stupid in setting it up? From everything I read, this is a great receiver with power to spare. I planned on it blowing me away. . . without having to turn it up to 0db in my small apartment.
Thanks!
