"Sounds nice, Overheats in my Home Theater Rack"1.0 starson by goofygonzo
Pros: lots of HDMI inputs
sounds nice enough, although the Onkyo 507 sounds better after calibration.
Cons: Kuro Link - not as advertised
Overheats - can't put into my media center
cannot figure out how to Keep commercials from "pumping up the volume"
Summary: First and Foremost, when I put the receiver into my plain vanilla tv stand, it overheats and starts pausing, skipping, and showing snow on the screen. I have tried multiple times to put into different areas of the entertainment center, its not a wire issue. After 20 minutes or so it just cooks enough to stop working correctly.
I could not figure out if it has any way to keep the volume in a smaller range (read bad documentation/or no feature) so when I am watching at 1am my wife will often come down and tell me the Germans need to stop bombing our livingroom (Commercials are really bad as well).
Kuro Link is horrid. When I have the Kuro Link enabled, when I turn on the television, it will turn on the reciever but set it to the TV as the input source. So EVERY TIME I turn it on I have to select my cablebox from the remote. Again maybe there is a way to get that to work correctly but the certainly didn't cover it in the documentation.
With the Heat problems I am experiencing, I have a hard time finding anything good to say about the unit other than I am glad I can return it.
