"Great except if using with DirecTv HD DVR"
Pros: Able to rename display labels, nice GUI, awesome audio & video, lots of HDMI inputs
Cons: HDMI does not work with DirecTv HR20 HD-DVR, yes - it is expensive, remote not the best, no firewire connection
Summary: First off - If you are using a DirecTv HR20 this is not the receiver for you. The HDMI hookup will not work between these two components. Sony blames DirecTv and DirecTv blames Sony. So instead I am using component video with digital audio optical which is a lower quality connection. The GUI is nice although switching between it and not using it is complicated. No problem with video and audio (except with the DirecTv receiver). Both my BluRay and HD-DVD players performed well with this receiver. Six HDMI inputs! I'm having trouble thinking how I could use all six. For as much money this receiver costs, a back lighted remote should have been included. Maybe a firewire connection as well for my Digital VCR. The remote (the primary one) is not very well designed and somewhat tricky. The secondary remote is not adequate for true audiophiles.
