Quick Take: The Sony STR-DG600 is the most affordable 7.1-channel A/V receiver in the company's 2006 product line. It offers 110 watts of power per channel and features an automatic speaker-setup program to assist with proper speaker placement and optimizing sound quality. Aside from its multiple optical and coaxial digital audio inputs and component-video inputs, the STR-DG600 is also XM-ready, which means that it can receive XM radio (with a subscription) by attaching an XM Connect-and-Play antenna. The receiver is scheduled to be available before the end of March for about $300.
