"Good value for HDMI switching receiver"
Pros: 3 HDMI inputs, Upscaling of component video inputs, selectable input names
Cons: Setup process isn't intuitive
Summary: Sound quality and HDMI video signal from high definition sources are both very good. Sony's interpretation of video upconversion apparently means translation of analog signals to digital for HDMI output; my standard definition inputs from cable box still show up as 480p. I like ability to name the inputs (Cable TV, DVD Recorder, HD DVD etc. rather than the default Video 1, Video 2, etc.) Remote control is big (long) but is logically organized with adequate space between keys. I chose the Sony DG910 over the Onkyo 605 after reading user comments about speaker popping and overheating of the Onkyo receiver. The Sony unit runs surprisingly cool (I've allowed plenty of space around the receiver). Use of banana plugs made speaker connections easy. The 910 is rather boxy looking, but appearance wasn't an important factor in my choice. Overall, i rate it as good value for the money.
