"Good Movie Experience" on by MoziFox

    Pros: Great movie experience
Front audio inputs for cameras, camcorders
    ipod dock capability
    Bluetooth hookup
    Amazing bass and sound

    Cons: Bulky look
Menu is not easily to use
    HDMI Passthrough only (major issue)

Summary: The Cinema features that Yamaha has on this unit is great. However, even when using Bluray and an optical audio hookup, you will need to enter the sound menu and manually amplify the center speaker's volume. This is because the Cinema features for movies utilizes the center speaker more often for voices. You will hear amazing ambient sounds and full bass at all times, but if you do not turn up the center speaker, you will have a hard time hearing the speech.

One major, major con is the unit only allows for HDMI-Passthrough. That means, if you were to hook up a Bluray player using an HDMI cable and want to run it through the receiver, you will only be able to see video. The unit will pass through the video on the HDMI, but will not use audio. That means you will have to use your TV for sound. Kind of a waste of time unless you have only 1 HDMI input on your TV and have maybe a high-def cable box and maybe a Bluray player that you want to use HDMI for both.

"Waste of time and money" on by chillh

    Pros: Affordable

Cons: Outdated, non functional HDMI connections, misleading, does not work with hi-fi gadgets like PS3 and blu-ray?s.

Summary: I was looking for entry level HTIB?s when I saw Yamaha 5.1 with 2 HDMI and Full HD picture support, I simply brought it. When I tried to connect, there was no sound! I read the manual, checked my connections, run YPO for 10 times with no luck. After going through every page of the manual, I shocked to learn it got only HDMI pass through? God knows how it is going to be useful to anyone in the planet. What a waste of time, I have to repack everything and take it back to store. I never buy anything that says ?Yamaha?
