Decent sound, easy setup.
Power output is a bit low for the price.

"I've had this unit for a few months now and enjoyed learning it's strengths, weaknesses, and tweaks. I'm not currently using its HDMI inputs and outputs so this will be restricted to my perceptions of user friendliness, audio quality and output. First, setup is fairly easy and intuitive, both through the GUI and the front panel display. At first there is a bit of a learning curve for the remote but once familiarized, navigation is quick when changing parameters and switching between sources. My favorite setting for movies is the 'Sci-fi' sound processing. Most of the other settings introduce too much coloration and echo to the sound for my taste giving an odd distortion to dialogue when watching video. I currently run my system in 5.1 configuration for TV and movies. A nice to have feature is the dual subwoofer output for those with more advanced home theater setups. Audio time delay adjustments are nice and allow the listener to set timing to eliminate 'lipsync' effects depending on listening distance from the speakers. There is also a "Lipsync" setting which can be set to auto when using the HDMI outputs of the unit. Speaker setup and volume tuning is quick and intuitive. The USB port on the front of the unit worked well to play music from a mass storage device. Once plugged in, simply push enter on the remote in the center section then push the play button in the section just below. A nice feature for music listening are the "Straight" and "Pure Direct" modes. The "Pure Direct" mode automatically configures the system to front R/L speakers only and disables the subwoofer output. The "Straight" configuration is both front R/L speakers with the subwoofer output enabled. The "Pure Direct" output is unprocessed sound output and has my 4 ohm front speakers sounding better than with my previous receiver the 'Onkyo TX Sv909pro' which was also rated 105 W/channel. In "Pure Direct" mode the sound is as clean and delineated as I have heard from a unit of this price range. One item of note here though, at +6 on the volume setting my 4 ohm front speakers were pulling too much current for this unit to handle and it shut off on overcurrent after about a minute of play. If you are running 4 ohm speakers (even the small Bose Acoustimass units) you will need to keep the sound levels below +4 (this unit goes to +16.5). I allowed a few minutes for the unit to cool down, turned it back on, and resumed play but at a much lower volume. I wanted see how much real power this unit has. It simply doesn't have the output of my old Onkyo unit but the Onkyo was more massive at about 45 pounds due to its larger transformers. It definitely proves that not all A/V receivers rated at the same W/channel push the same level of power to the speakers. The Onkyo was also rated at the same W/channel and would drive my 4 ohm speakers mercillessly. However, I purchased this unit with the intent of using it as a pre-amp since is has low voltage pre-outs in addition to the normal speaker outputs. I would recommend this unit if you are running 8 ohm speakers. It simply doesn't have the current capacity to drive 4 ohm units at higher volumes. Overall, this is a nice unit but is a little pricey for the power output. It makes up for this in the number of features offered for both video and audio control. If you are looking for theater sound levels, you may consider adding a power amp to it or opt for the RXV2065. In 5.1 surround mode the sound quality is good but not great with sound being a bit overprocessed in most of the available modes. Yamaha could also have put more effort into the power supply to allow the user to push the unit a bit more. For the price, overall this is a fair A/V receiver but needs more current capacity to take advantage of the "Straight" and "Pure Direct" modes for the dedicated two channel music listener.
