"Excellent on any Basis -- Superb Value"
Pros: Great Sound; Easy & accurate auto callibration
Cons: No HDMI (but if you know that going in, it's not really a knock)
Summary: I've had some very expensive, top of the line A/V recievers costing up to $3500. This doesn't have the raw power and/or specs of those receivers but for most purposes, I don't notice the difference in basic sound quality.
The Yamaha sound processing is fantastic. The receiver has tons of inputs and it basically just does what it is supposed to without being overly complicated to figure out.
I paid $320 from Butterfly and at that price it's hard for me to imagine that there is a more fully featured, better sounding receiver available. (P.S. I don't recommend Butterfly because they'ver started using follow-up phone calls with hard sell techniques).
I highly recommend this receiver if you don't need/want HDMI.
