Pros Solid decoding, parametric equalizer
Cons Remote Control
Summary I have owned this receiver for about a year and am very impressed. To focus on some points not covered in the review, this unit offers a 7 band parametric equalizer that is adjustable for frequency, gain, and Q (how broadly or narrowly the equalization is applied around the selected frequency). This is very useful in fine tuning an audio system. One caveat is that the equalization is not applied to a subwoofer connected through the subwoofer output. Another omitted feature that I would love to have is separately adjustable crossover frequencies for a subwoofer and for the other speakers. However, I don't think that any receiver in this price range offers this feature.
Note that the multi-channel soundfields that Yamaha provides can be adjusted along quite a few parameters. This is not something that I have played with yet, but I will at some point.
Something else worth noting is that although the less expensive Yamaha receivers in this line have almost as much rated power as the 667, their rated distortion at their rated power is ten times greater (0.9% vs. 0.09%) than the 667. In other words, you do get a more solid amplifier section for your money.
The GUI, as noted in the review, is very good, although adjusting the parametric equalizer can be a bit fussy.
Pros Easy to set up. Great price at $319 on Amazon.
Cons No USB port
Pros price, hdmi actually works with everything (have it hooked to imac, xbox, etc), on-screen is clean
Cons none, well, to be ambitious maybe a native server with spotify integration... wirelessly.
Summary For the price you can't go wrong.
Pros on screen menu is good the volume is great especially the 7.1 love the sound out of all the speakers
Cons none that i know of yetbut still playing around
Summary good unit no complaints
Pros Gotta love how easy it is to set up. Plus the features - wow! Talk about future-proofing your AV Receiver! The iOS app is cool too :)
Cons Remote is not all that user-friendly. Still trying to figure if my TiVo remote can control the Input or not...
Summary Don't believe there's a better receiver out there for the price!
