"The best in its class"
5.0 starson by ZedZed123Pros: The best GUI period! Excellent inputs, Ethernet, DLNA, AV Control App.
Cons: None so far.
Summary: This is one of the worst Cnet reviews I have ever read. They over emphasise the need for Air Play, mention Apple about 12 times and do not even mention the fact that you can download the Yamaha AV Control widget for Google Android. Compare this Amp with the likes of the Pioneer SC-LX83 which has like for like features compared with the RXV671 but at four times the price and is considered "High End" while the Yamaha is considered Mid-Range? Not to mention the competition products have an Atari 2600 style GUI. I really can't believe this reviewer, Apple, Apple, Apple. This is without a doubt one of the best value amps around. If you can get better features for the same money in another brand please post and let me know.

I almost thought I was reading a review of an iDevice accessory! Just ordered it.
The Android app is at https://market.android.com/details?id=com.yamaha.av.avcontroller&feature=search_result -
I must agree with your summary - I read all four AV reviews of the top four CNET's amps (Onkyo, Denon, Yamaha and Pioneer) and they all sound so sponsored by Apple the actual point of reviews is lost - if it doesn't support iphones and ipads the product gets zero score...hey what about the Hi-Fi, the AV aspect the receiver is primarily for??
I want to buy an amp myself now and now I ended up having to compile my own apple-to-apple (*sigh*) comparison chart based on the users' reviews, in order to score them first before giving top two a listen in the shop.
anyone knows a better source of UNBIASED reviews? -
I agree - the CNET editor seems pretty biased - it's pretty silly to try making the argument that connectivity with one company's proprietary format is more important than connectivity to 100s of companies and 1000s of products through DLNA, which is an open, licenseable format. Probably needs to get outside the cubicle once in a while. However, despite his best efforts, this looks like the receiver I'm going to get.
