"Spend $50, then spend another $100"
0.5 starson by Borachio10013Pros: None. Wouldn't run.
Cons: Requires additional software to work.
Summary: Based on CNet's review, I bought Acronis True Image 9.0. Little did I realize that if you want to copy data to DVD, Acronis seems to require very specific software packages to do it. I have DVD-writing software (Sonic) installed on my PC, but buried deep in the Acronis Web site is the fact that it can only write to DVDs if you have either Roxio's EasyCD/DVD Creator or Ahead's InCD. If you have some other product, as far as I can tell, you are -- in the words of Dirty Harry -- "s**t out of luck." You can spend an additional $70-$100 for the extra software or you can uninstall this dog and go back to using Norton Ghost.
::sigh:: Oh, well. Live and learn.Updated
The documentation was no help, and I never heard back from support, but the problem writing to DVDs does not in the end seem to be the fault of Acronis True Image. Therefore, I retract my earlier negative review.

It seems that people expect it to work like Ghost, starting it inside the windows expecting it to take over when it reboots. This can cause problems.<br>Acronis does not seem to function that way. Try using Acronis only from the BOOT CD. This way it is free of any software bugs on your computer. The boot CD works independent of what you have installed on your computer.
