"Destroyed my system"
Pros: Cheap, looks like it does something
Cons: Unreliable, doesn't do what it says
Summary: Yesterday I installed True Image - today I get to rebuild my system.
I have two hard drives in my system, one for backups, one for data. I let True Image create a separate partition on the first (Windows) drive for its recovery function and turned on the system recovery. I imaged my Windows drive to the second, backup drive as I've also done with Drive Image. Then I attempted to make a folder/file backup.
True Image said it was reading my "E:" partition, not even the one I was trying to backup. This went on for over an hour. I finally got task manager to kill the True Image and restarted. The results: No NTLDR, no second, backup drive. Pressing F11 at boot did nothing, because I couldn't get the the backup on the, now, non-existent drive. Nice work Acronis. Acronis says they rewrite NTLDR when you install their System Restore functions. Cold day in hell when I let another program do that again.

This is why I do not run any back up programs in windows. Always use boot CD. I install the program only to create a Boot CD - then uninstall it and restore the computer back to the state it was before installing the program.
People also forget that in case of multiple internal hard disks Acronis or Ghost may not assign the same drive letters as windows did. You probably restored a wrong image onto C drive or, forgot to make it active. Had you used a boot CD instead, you could restore it again with correct options. -
I'm sorry mfrie01, but I have to completely disagree with you. First of all, just to try it, I bought True Image Home for my Home PC, and worked perfectly. I recommended to everybody I knew and it worked perfectly for them too! And I was actually so impressed with the functionality and the capabilities that I bought the ATI 9.1 Server for my job. I got 2 potential virus attacks that practically made me format the first time my computer and the second time the server.
Everything was restored with no problems and as fast as hell. That?s why I doubt that you used it as it should be used. Or that you bought the product.
Next time get an original product? -
