"Restored and worked!"

5 stars  | on by fujitsulover

Pros

What can I say "Acronis True Image 2011" worked for me so far. Fast and efficient.

Cons

Had to wait until my friend upgraded to a new system before giving me his old version which I am using now.

Summary

Thank you Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ! My Uncle Thao who is a private doctor in San Antonio donated an old SONY DVD drive to me. With the upgraded drive, it reads and writes at up to 52x. About 8 gigabytes worth of information was compressed down to around 5 and took about 20 minutes to burn to two DVDs! I have only tested this product out on Microsoft Windows XP (specifically XP HOME edition). There are a handful of customized options available: options for comments, compression strength, backup destination, etc. This is just for the bootable recovery media. The software itself installs onto your computer and takes up about 100 megabytes for the install file. There is a special sandbox option to test out unknown programs before actually installing it on the system just in case it contains viruses.

Pros

Cons

Windows Vista would not run after restore.
Support is an overseas script monkey.
Phone support costs extra.

Bootable media created with v11 would not work - support had to send me a new ISO file. Image verified okay and restored without error, but hung after logging in (background screen with no icon). Bootable media created with v11 would not work - support had to send me a new ISO file. Image verified okay and restored without error, but hung after logging in (background screen with no icon). Acronis admitted that this was a known issue (to do with Windows password manager) but would not upgrade me to 2009, in which this is fixed.
