Pros: Only Packaging

    Cons: Too much to list

Summary: Have spent days trying to get this work have finally given up and will return the thing to get my money back.
Setup: Dell 4300 Desktop & HP Laptop, Sony 530UL External DVD writer via USB

First problem: It wouldn't completely finish writing to the DVD and would eject it. After going through 9 Fuji DVD+Rs for the laptop hard-drive (30 GB in size), it finally crapped out with a message "Error E7D1001F, Unable to write to file"

Next Problem: Should have given it up now, but being a sucker for punishment, tried to backup the Dell. This time around, moved to Sony DVD-R discs, hoping that I'll have better luck. Well, the damn thing wouldn't even start the backup, kept ejecting the tray everytime I pushed it in with a new DVD-R disc.

Tried many combinations of the options (standard vs high compression), installing and NOT doing a live update.....had different outcomes each time, but none succesful.

Such a shame, Norton 2003 was great, except for the DOS bootup. I didn't even bother with a trial version assuming that this'll be a bigger/better version, but boy was I wrong. Last time with any Symantec/Norton product..
Oh yeah the email support sucks, absolutely unhelpful

Symantec sends you an albeit automatic polite e-mail promising to be back in 24 h. 10 days and 4 reminders later you are still stuck with a non-working Ghost and no reply.
Symantec belongs to the elite web robbers club and it seems ripping off is generally accepted in the US to-day. Where are the Ralph Nader Types who gave BIG General Motors hell?
Kaarlo von Freymann Helsinki Finland

I used to think the government regulating everything is not a good idea, the industry should and can regulate itself. Unfortunately he US business community has failed to so. Fairness and decency belong to a bygone time. I have sent Symantec 4 reminders for the ticket they promised to respond to in 24 h. No answer in 10 days, Ghost 9 and 10 non-functioning.
Being ripped off is becoming common and acceptable because we lack people like Ralph Nader and do not raise hell.
Kaarlo von Freymann Helsinki Finland

I cannot help but support fnottle's opinion on this - this is really really bad software - some of the worst I have seen (except some of my own worst code!). This is not a professional product, and the quality issues are beyond belief. It would just take too long to explain - this is a recovery software that actually FIGHTS YOU when you are in a jam. YOU ARE LIKELY NOT TO BE ABLE TO RECOVER WITH THIS SOFTWARE IN A TIMELY MANNER. Worse yet, EVERY time I have needed it to recover it has failed, FOR A DIFFERENT REASON EACH TIME! Fortunately, I never put all of my eggs in one basket, so I have been able to get my data back anyhow. WITH NO HELP FROM THIS SOFTWARE!

Over all I like the program, with the older versions of the Ghost the computer would require some down time, but with this version of Ghost you can do everything from the windows environment. (As far as backing up) This alone is a great improvement. Also the backup schedule works nice I think it is pretty flexible. Right now I do back-ups over the network to my server, once a week for a full back-up and some incremental back-ups on a daily basis. If you choose to do it this way test the back-up, at first I had problems getting to the back-up on the server using the recovery disk, it was basically a permission problem. But after that no problem!
I haven’t cloned a disk yet, but plan to upgrade my harddrive soon but don’t anticipate a problem the older versions of Ghost always came through.
THE ONLY COMPLIANT I HAVE. Creating a drive image on a CD/DVD. It is great you can do it from the windows environment and it does work, “no question” but. To restore with a CD set you have to use Ghost CD to boot the computer and go from there and this CD does not come to life that fast! With the older versions of Ghost you took your disk set , dropped in the first CD and booted the computer. Yes the first CD of the set was bootable and very quick and was straight to the point and operated in a DOS environment. The 9.0 Ghost way of CD recovery has more to offer as far as user options but I wish they also included the older way of creating the CD set also. But that is really my only complaint, which is not that big a deal.
