Lots of new features in version 12.5by davidstrom2007 - February 23, 2009
Pros: -- Free 60 day trial
-- Granular Recovery Technology allows easy restoration of accidentally deleted files, emails, or documents.
-- VMware and Microsoft Hyper-V virtual server data protection
-- Integrated online backup
Cons: --Some of the menus are a bit densely packed, such as the Job Setup screens
-- This is not a product for single server environments (there is a separate version for Microsoft?s Small Business Server that is more appropriate)
Review:

Don't buy Backup Exec any more!by RogueOne808 - February 12, 2007
Pros: Sounds good in theory
Cons: Very buggy, support is horrible!
Review:
I have been a user of Backup Exec since version 7 when it was still sold by Seagate. Ever since Backup Exec changed from Veritas to Symantec, everything has gone downhill. Backups jobs are nearly impossible get completed properly and support is the worst I have ever experienced. Everything is run out of India. It's very hard to get someone there to call you back even if it is a priority case. They were supposed to call me back within 2 hours but they ended up calling me a day later at 4am! The techs that I have dealt with were difficult to understand and they were arrogant. They were also unable to fix my problems. Many others express their frustration with this product and its support daily at Symantec's own support forum! Since upgrading to Backup Exec 11d, there have been numerous issues. With Hot Fixes #2 and #6 installed, problems still exist.
Save yourself the headache and trouble. DO NOT upgrade or install Backup Exec 11d.
Backup Exec 10.x with all the SP and hot fixes install is the most stable Backup Program there is.
