Just because you don't want to deal with the cost and complexity of a full surround-sound system doesn't mean you have to live with the wimpy sound of your TV's built-in speakers. These TV add-on speakers sit either under or in front of your TV and offer significantly better sonics without taking up a lot of extra space. These products don't have a lot of inputs--often just one--but if your TV has an audio output, you can likely use it as a switcher to connect more components, such as a game console.

If you like the single-speaker design, but need more connectivity, check out our list of best sound bar home theater systems.
