It's the perfect drive for watching any and all movies (DVD, HD-DVD and Blu-ray so you no longer have to put any thought into what format to buy) on your PC, which considering how Blu-ray profiles are going, seems to be the best solution. Software can be updated to support newer profiles. It's also extremely quiet even when running at full speed. It even includes all the accessories you'll need including a SATA cable, and a molex to SATA power cable adapter which is very convenient.
Suffice to say that the only thing this drive lacks is being able to burn either of the high def formats, but this is a luxury as media prices for either one are out of this world and external hard drives have a lower cost per gig than BD-R's.
It's a universal drive that performs universally well.
