"Much better than the Pioneer BDP-HD1 reviewed by CNET for same rating"
Pros: Plays almost any disc with great DVD upconversion, too
Cons: Unlighted remote, doesn't play HD-DVDs, no network connection
Summary: Why CNET gave this player the same scoring total of 6.5 as the Pioneer BDP-HD1 is beyond me. It should at least have got a 7.5 from CNET for its better features even when factoring in its higher price as compared to other BD players. Please note this player is often discounted, too.
The reason I give it a 9.0 is because it doesn't have a network connection, so you have to use discs to upgrade the software, which has been very easy to do in the past months I have owned this great player.
Panasonic service has been excellent, too, in this regard.
This is NO Pioneer BD player at all because it plays almost every disc you give it with excellent upconversion on standard DVDs, both things the Pioneer BD player cannot do.
Top that off with a smaller size, lighter weight, easy to use (though unlighted) remote and quick setup with the lower cost of the the Pioneer model, why not buy this Panasonic, now?
