    "still overpriced"

    by the_iceman on October 17, 2008

Pros: 1080p Full HD video via HDMI output, newer digital audio formats

Cons: high cost for players & movies

Summary: Panasonic is a solid brand, however the players need to hit 199 and movies 15-20 for me to jump. Also, if you dont already know pioneer is working on 500GB media & there's HVD - which is very cool...so I'm not sure IF blu-ray will catch on in the same fashion as DVD did or will it be another superior format.

Perhaps you are too young to remember when DVD's were this costly. Of course this is the future. 7/8 Studios back it, HDDVD is dead and prices are already coming down.
    Try again.

I cannot disagree with all of you more. Blu-Ray is the next gen DVD plain and simple, Blockbuster, and your box stores are pushing it. Guess what the Dark Knight comes out next month and it will do what the Matrix did for DVD. Helk that isnt even hitting Star Wars or Lord of the Rings. Get those out there and people will buy. Get the players down to $199 and disc prices drop some and the formula will be complete. This format is not goin away...and will be the dominant force from this Christmas forward, for the next 8-10 yrs.

why don't we keep the "USER REVIEWS" to the people that actually own this unit and can give actual feedback instead of your cheap self giving us your opinion about a device you're never going to buy because it's $100 too much. If anything, compare this to existing BD players, not SD DVDs... KTHXBYE.

I agree with your comments. Almost every article I've read about HD says that Blu-Ray will NOT be the dominate optical movie format, regardless of what the fanatics say about it. It's just too expensive!
