"Basic, decent quality." on by arish78

    Pros: Easy setup.

    Cons: Not true Blu-ray experience.

Summary: Not much better than a standard DVD player. If you want a Blu-ray player to get Blu-ray experience, spend the money. If you're not ready to spend the money, hold off until you are.

"$99. Best Buy, with great telephone support" on by argiano

Pros: Ease of setting up, ease of use, beautiful playback on my 1080p.

    Cons: Nothing yet!

Summary: I bought my Blue-Ray for $99.00 and called for a firmware CD, was put in touch with a great guy in Buenos Aires who told me a more current firmware was available for download and walked me through the process on my MAC, (he was using a Mac also). Took the CD and installed on the Blu-Ray and played my first disk on my 47" 1080 which has been waiting almost two years to show me some great 1080. I am thrilled. Some of the reason I am so excited is because a year ago I hooked up a HD-DVD that I had to return because it was not compatible with the TV. So with my low expectations the quality and ease of operation has left me very and highly satisfied.

"Would be Ok if not handled by Best Buy" on by Lotahype

Pros: Cheap, I paid $200 for mine now it has dropped $50 to $150. I bought mine with 0% interest financing for 3 years along with my LG TV.

Cons: Horrid "Geek Squad" or any other service from Best Buy. I was never notified it needed an upgrade, all the blue ray discs just quit working, when I tried to get an upgrade cd it was a half day process to order [ I do not have an image burnable cd.]

Summary: Buy mine or someone else s insignia player used for much less than retail whenever they upgrade to something decent. I wish I had done more research before I bought this.

"nice for the price, with some bugs to work out still" on by mstraig

Pros: price, picture quality, access music and pictures via USB port, upgradable to 2.0 (when becomes available)

Cons: some playback issue, firmware updates via cd not USB or ethernet, average but acceptable load times

Summary: I never thought I'd be an owner of anything sporting the Insignia label. But in this case, was just looking for great pciture quality for little cash, as I just watch the movies, not the all the extras. So far, this has met those needs. I found the firware update via cd to be not too much of an inconvenience. Took less than 10 minutes. Just seemed silly to have a USB and Ethernet port but not be able to use if for updates. 2.0 update is supposedly coming soon. I've watched several dozen movies on this player, and only had playback issues with the Borne trilogy. Every one of them had the audio cut out. Had to continually press pause/play to get the audio back. Very annoying, This was also after applying the latest firware update, so yes, they still have some playback issues to address. But all other movies I've watched with ZERO issues! As far as the PQ, Blu Ray is excellent. Looks great on my Mitsubishi front projector at 92"! Couldn't be happier from that standpoint.

"I love It and it;s a Insignia" on by Tiocatino

Pros: I like how it has the resolution button on the remote to know the setting, also it has Ethernet & USB for future upgrades.

    Cons: None to be found.

Summary: The price was less than two hundred , it has all the features you need. I would recommed this Blu-ray to anyone.
