"Piece of junk! I give it zero stars."
on by BuyerBeware1234567Pros Umm....yeah. Still thinking. Let me get back to you on that one.
Cons Piece of junk. Broke after 2 1/2 months, takes excessively long time to start up (that was before it broke), menus are fuzzy, no firmware upgrades available, doesn't read all discs on the first try.
Summary Worked 2 1/2 months, then when you tried to turn it on, it wouldn't stay on, it just powered off again. Took it back to Best Buy, with the receipt, they said "oh, you didn't pay for EXTRA warranty, call Insignia". Called Insignia, was within the 365 day manufacturer's warranty (which Best Buy pedals as being a 2 year warranty), they said "sounds like the power supply is shot; take it to Best Buy and they can exchange it". Went back to Best Buy, they said "We can't do anything, you have to call Insignia". This was the first and last time I will EVER buy Insignia. Both Insignia & Best Buy have horrible customer service.

"unreliable disappointment"
on by hr_girlPros inexpensive
Cons sometimes works, sometimes it doesn't. It frequently 'forgets' how to talk to the tv, requiring multiple restarts. Doesn't play CDs (at least not well or consistently). Noisy loading and playing of discs.
Summary Bottom line - the quality of this blu ray player reminds me of my very first dvd player, all buggy and inconsistent. It appears to have completely failed me today - 10 months after purchase - which makes it CHEAP in my eyes, rather than inexpensive.

"I hope insignia goes under for this...."
on by IrishEtalon007Pros It worked, for awhile.
Cons Within 1 year of purchasing this model in Best Buy, Insignia discontinued the model. Even though the OEM, which is NOT Insignia, is still releasing firmware updates, Insignia has decided they don't want/need to release their model-specific firmware.
Summary Never, ever buy an Insignia product. I am not exaggerating when I say that product support for Insignia is nonexistent.
Please see CONS.
Because you Insignia chose not to update their firmware, NO UNIVERSAL STUDIOS BR-DVD's WORK THAT WERE MANUFACTURED AFTER JULY 2009 (which is the latest firmware version Insignia released) WILL PLAY IN THIS PLAYER. As more time passes, more and more blu-rays that I try to play simply won't play. I and many others have hounded Insignia about this issue, and their only response is "this blu-ray player is discontinued. Buy another one." well you can bet the farm I'll never purchase another Insignia product again.
AND NEITHER SHOULD YOU! -
"horrible wireless feature, and very loud when loading."

"Total Garbage"
on by AlexWinter666Pros It was under $200 (for a reason).
Cons Stopped working after 5 months. No longer plays any Blu rays or DVDs. Best Buy won't honor warranty. Total rip off on every possible level, both companies are on my "do not buy" list. Should be investigated for consumer fraud.
