"Skips ahead and / or sound cuts off."1.5 starson by MagicMel55
Pros: Compact size. Great picture and sound.
Cons: Sound cuts off while the video continues to play. Skips ahead as if the disc was dirty. Entire front panel must open up in order to load disc.
Summary: I just received this unit as a Christmas present from my brother. He also bought us Disney Pixar's Toy Story 3 which included both DVD and Blu-Ray discs. Several times through the movie the sound cut off completely while the video portion continued to play. Twice, it actually skipped ahead. Thinking that it was a bad Blu-Ray disc, we switched to the standard DVD, and unbelievably it did the same thing but not in the same places. After reading some of the other reviewers here with similar problems, I would not recommend this player. After updating the Driver and Software via WIRED internet connection (wireless connection failed on 3 attempts), it improved the the "skip ahead" problem. But the sound cutoff problem still remains a royal pain. I still had to power the unit down in order to get back to where I left off, and since the start up is fairly slow it becomes very frustating. The update however did decrease the number of times the sound cut out, but even once is one times too many! I finally just packed it up and traded it in for a Sony BDP-S570. It starts up faster and there are no problems whatsoever. It was an even exchange since Best Buy had the Sony on sale for $149.99.
