"Great DVD Player"
on by vicpf51Pros Quality construction, plays most video files
Cons No Divix support
Summary My first Blu-ray player is a great machine. Upon opening the box I realized I had a unit that was designed with quality in mind. It plays my older DVDs perfectly. I have also played back my PC video files [AVI, MKV and MP4] with acceptable results. It has the usual HDMI connection but also Component Video which is lacking on other units in it's price range. You can also play video files off of a USB device. Lack of Divix support is not a big problem it should have been included. I have not tried the streaming feature but after reading other reviews it seems to function properly.

"Doesn't work with Netflix and 1080i TV"
on by cnetmarcPros Good Blu-ray/DVD player for price
Cons Problems with Netflix, support rudest I have ever encountered!!!
Summary For under $100 this is very competent Blu-Ray and DVD player. Unfortunately, I discovered there is a software bug making it incompatible with Netflix and my Panasonic 1080i TV. It plays all Blu-ray, DVDs, and HD Netflix streaming just fine. I have two of these units. One is connected to my 1080p tv via my AV receiver using all HDMI. This setup works fine. The second unit is connected directly, via HDMI to my older Panasonic 1080i. A bug in the firmware eliminates the audio output when it tries to upscale standard definition Netlfix movies. You must manually change the output to 480p. This setting would then apply to all output, including Blu Ray discs. In other words, I would need to run the player in standard definition output mode. I called support. This person was the rudest support person I have ever encountered. First, he got the facts backwards. When I tried to correct him he cut me off and chastised me ("You already told me that sir, I don't need to hear it again".) After I finally got through to him the problem was with the upscaling,he insisted the problem was because my tv has not HD (even though I read to him several online definitions of HD which encompasses 720p, 1080i and 1080p. He said only 1080p is HD. Still, he could not explain why it played DVD discs (480p) but not streaming (480p). I told him I was not the only one with this issue (Google and you will see I am not alone.) He said I was wrong because this is the first time he has heard of it (in other words if he has not encountered an issue it does not exist). No problem. Both units will go back to the store and I will never purchase another LG product.

"Bought 2. Don't need wifi. USB great. Plays everything!"
on by rsgibson5704Pros Plays all files types nearly including mkv, mp4, mpeg, avi, etc. Excellent picture. Versatile features. I don't need wifi and don't use Netflix stuff so to me that is fluff. I bought two. Amazon os selling them for $86! The USB port saves time/money.
Cons None would buy again.
Summary Really surprised me for the price and is an entry league player with major league features.
