"Outstanding. Love the slick design, and size."
on by YankeeGreatPros tons of other apps, that ARENT (Blockbuster) offered on any other device. Use of USB input and will network with my windows media player, Youtube, amazing. got rid of HBO,$ 6 less a month. and for 3 more a month u can have blockbustr and netflix!
Cons Very light, hard to keep in place.
Summary Great buy. Amazing Apps, and you can stream MLB Network, and every game!, its just the tip of the iceberg. Great Blue Ray Player, was not big on Blue Ray, DVD is just fine for me, but its the whole package. And Blue Ray is better.

"Absolute piece of junk. Do not buy. Bad Factory Run?"
on by mrjumbomortgagePros Apps work fairly well. Has to get a connection and download all of them when you connect it. Not installed in the storage out of the factory. Watched Netflix fine. UI Menu system and speed between sections of the OS need major work. Faster processor?
Cons I'm very tech savvy. Upgraded to latest 1020.1 after an elaborate on/off, wait 5 sec unplug, restart dance that then allowed for it to upgrade. It won't play any discs at ALL. Unreal. No DVD/Blurays of any kind. Piece of junk. Returning to Costco.
Summary Piece of junk. They must have had a very bad run of these. If you visit other forums many people are having very weird software and drive problems. Worst consumer product I have purchased in years. Coming from someone who owns two new Samsung Plasmas. They really fumbled this one

"It shows Blu-ray disks fine, but others things aren't"
on by Doctor WhoPros I like the display of Blu-ray movies. The addtional functions are nice, when they work.
Cons Recently, when trying to watch what Samsung calls InternetTV, it starts a download and install of something. I don't know what, but it takes WAY TOO LONG TO DO! Also, sometimes if you pause a movie (DVD or Blu-ray), it doesn't resume.
Summary I've never own a Blu-ray player before, but I have to say that I am disappointed in this unit. The tendency to not resume a movie (DVD or Blu-ray) if you've had it paused for a while, makes me wonder what's wrong with it. Also, every time I try to run any of the InternetTV functions (like watching Netflix or anything else like that), it starts a very lengthy download and installation process, which never seems to end. I no longer bother to watch anything Internet related on this, but instead use my Roku, which gives me reliable service. Bottom line, I don't recommend you get this, if you want to watch anything via the Web. It's fine, if you want to just use it as a DVD/Blu-ray player, so long as you don't pause whatever you're watching for very long.
As time goes by, I am less pleased with this Blu-ray player.

"Good Blu Ray, no Hulu Plus"
on by RheebusPros So far the Blue Ray portion of this product is working well. The load time is pretty quick compared to my parents' Blu Ray. Netflix and Pandora functionality are great!
Cons No Hulu Plus app...yet. Froze while playing DVD.
Summary Not sure what the hold up on the Hulu plus app is here. Samsung has an app, its just not available for this player (yet, hopefully). This is doubly frustrating because the Hulu plus app is advertised on the banner adds for apps that scroll past when using the app finder program on the player. Lastly, the player froze while playing the Neo/Morpheus fight scene in the original Matrix DVD. I hope this isn't a consistent problem, but I won't be using the player to play DVDs much, so even if it is, it won't affect me.

"Good Blu-Ray player/streamer"
on by zapatasghostPros Excellent Bluray performance - albeit slow loading at times. Great picture and sound. Streaming capabilities are Ok. Netflix works and the new version of the app is much improved - although no 5.1 sound via stream. Easy-to-use no-nonsense remote.
Cons Streaming features such as the Youtube app sucks (very limited search function etc.). No Dolby surround for Netflix streaming. Touch-sensative controls on the face of the player are a bit too sensitive. Regular DVD's sometimes do not load correctly.
Summary Over-all good player for the money. Doesn't seem to be worth the hassle if you don't have a wired connection (which I do) for streaming. DVD's sometimes don't load correctly where you get stuck either on a blank screen or on the ratings screen requiring either shutting down the power or reloading the disk.
Now that I've owned this player for some months now - I now realize that although the BluRay picture is good - it is terrible at reading or starting up regular (non-Blu-ray) DVD's - which is the vast majority of use for this player for me. I don't see an improvement in the picture over my old regular DVD player for non-Bluray DVD's on this player. Getting a regular DVD to read correctly almost always requires a frustrating series of ejecting and closing to allow the player to reread the DVD. It does not have the feature that reads where you left off. Although the Netflix "app" was much improved some months ago (it initially was terrible) - loading a streamed Netflix movie is excruciatingly slow even though it's connected via ethernet. I actually initially thought that the long wait for streaming movies to load was normal until I saw an AppleTV almost instantly load a Netflix movie over a wireless network! Overall, this player has put a sour taste in my mouth for Samsung products.

Updated on Jul 28, 2011Oh yeah! When you stream Netflix you get no sound - requiring you to exit the Netflix app completely to access the audio settings then the long wait - again - to reload the Netflix movie.
If I could I would give maybe 2 stars versus my initial 4 stars. The player was inexpensive - but not free!!! I still expect more.
