  • "Beautiful picture, when it works, Poor networking"

    Pros: Great picture
    Decent 3D

    Cons: Horrible networking
    Stopped working in a month
    Samsung customer service

Summary: The blu ray picture is great, 3D is good enough, up-scaling works well on regular DVDs. Never got it to work via wireless. Everything else in my home, 6+ wifi devices, including 3 Rokus, work fine, so it is this player. Ran it wired through an Airport Express, but the picture was horrible on Netflix and other apps so I never really used that function much. Definitely do not buy this for the networking.

After a month of use, it gave an error message that it couldn't read the disc and kicked out every disc I put in it, both brand new blu ray and DVDs. Samsung's support is the absolute worst I have ever experienced. Spoke with two reps who pretty much ignored the error message and anything I told them about when it happened and just kept walking me through the same useless steps. Finally I was "escalated" to their executive customer service and they were more helpful, faster and spoke much better English.

I sent in the player for repair and got it back two weeks later with the exact same problem plus covered in grease and fingerprints. Another call to Samsung and more troubleshooting. Now I am sending it in for service again and may get it back or may get a replacement refurbished model of "comparable" specs.

Samsung has the worst customer service of any company I have ever dealt with and this player is the most unreliable disc player I have ever owned. I'm waiting on the Oppo 93 and then this thing goes to the great recycling bin in the sky. What a waste of money!
