  • "Not made for streaming!!!!!"
    on by sarahbug

    Pros Inexpensive

    Cons Internet connection issues

Summary I bought this blue ray player primarily for streaming (Hulu & Netflix). This Blue Ray player was clearly not built for internet streaming. I've had consistent internet connection issues when connecting The Blue Ray player - it states that there are network interferences. It will work for a week and then suddenly won't connect. After doing research online there are THOUSANDS of other customers having the exact same issue with this model. We have troubleshooted everything including our internet (which we upped the speed on) and our modem (which we purchased a new one) and we have concluded this model of Samsung Blue Ray player is a total piece of crap. Very disappointed that Samsung would make such a crappy product & not offer any real solutions to frustrated customers.

  • "Bottom-line - just an ok player"
    on by pisau3

    Pros Image is good
    setup is easy
    interface is clean
    connectivity is adequate

Cons Limited subtitle capability in file mode (poorly documented in manual, figuring out by trial and error), have not been able to play idx/sub format, embedded subtitles (mkv) or srt files that have a slightly different file name than the movie file (i.e. fo

Summary Reading at the feedback from the Samsung guy on the forum, it seems like the solution is to re-encoding the files to a format that is supported by the player. If the player is not flexible enough to support the more recent standards used in today's multimedia, I'm wondering if I would not be better off dedicating an old PC as my multimedia player (BD, DVD, MP3, etc.) which offers almost limitless possibilities.

  • "Smart TV capable, I guess"
    on by thelardlad

    Pros Not terribly expensive

Cons Difficult to set up Smart TV, remote slow to respond sometimes.

  • "I bought this just to play movies from BD & ext HD."
    on by Yan_Borja

Pros Reasonable price and delivers amazing sound and video.

Cons Slow internet connectivity and streaming. Remote control response is not that fast (but compare to other brand on the same price point, this is okay). Probably after a few firmware updates, Samsung will fix these issues,

Summary Overall, this is an impressive media player (BD, DVD, & Portable HDD). I know that there are some few issues but i know that Samsung can easily fix those.

  • "Simply superb! Menus slightly slow but superb quality"
    on by msmicksmith

    Pros Superb video and sound.
Smart Hub online content is one of the best around.
    Price.

Cons Slightly clunky menu operation, but for under £100 what do you expect?

Summary I have a Samsung 51" Plasma TV and the image quality from this BD player is stunning. I also only have a Technics stack system hifi unit with subwoofer and technics speakers, but again, compared to normal DVD sound, it's like sitting in the cinema!
It streams HQ content from BBC iPlayer perfectly. Downloads updates and films effortlessly and quickly.
Disc load times are very quick too.

If you want a BD player, for under £100, with superb image and sound, excellent features and internet connectivity, this is a superb choice.
