"Early performance very good" on by browns14

Pros: Picture quality and sound outstanding. Quick start option works as advertised. Set up was easy.

Cons: One minor clitch when loading a standard DVD. Worked fine second attempt.

Summary: Picture is outstanding. 5.1 sound is equally good. Harry Potter 5 disc warned of excessive loading times if player did not have latest software. HP5 loaded without a hitch. Setup was straightforward. Remote is easy to use. Still playing with the menus and checking the machine out. At this point it looks like a very good product.

"Too inconsistent to be pleasurable" on by looloolaroo

    Pros: Sleek look

    Cons: Won't play certain discs

Summary: I bought this earlier this year, and so far the only thing I've been able to watch on it is the Planet Earth series and Night at the Museum. It's failed to play DVD's rented from Blockbuster, and now it's failing to play a BD I rented from Blockbuster (the movie plays, but the entire film suffers from a mosaic pixilation of some sort that makes it impossible to watch or hear. Presumably this is due to different versions of BlueRay. I'm wishing I didn't spend the money on it. I can't have a player that is so inconsistent that every time I rent or buy a movie (at a premium price), I'll have to worry about if it will play or not. DVD's bring more pleasure.

    "Has problems" on by EracerguyFL

Pros: Not bulky with somewhat fast startup

Cons: Won't eject disks it can't read

Summary: This player will not eject disks that it has problems reading. It just stops with a image on the screen and your hung. You have to disconnect the power cable. Don't attempt a firmware upgrade via the usb port unless you want to disable your unit completely (Don't risk it). It looks like it could be a good unit with some further improvements.

"Sharp Blue ray player" on by tchunter88

Pros: Easy set up, Ready to go out of the box.

    Cons: Nothing to complain abought.

Summary: I rated this product a strong 9,I think everything can be improved no matter how good it is. I have been looking at Blue Rays for a couple of months now,I went with this one because of the loading time, yes it is quicker then most,5 free in house movies & 5 free mail movies. There are also alot of opitions for video and audio hook ups wich I liked too.I think C-Net says there is no bit streaming audio for digital but there is you just need to go into the menue. I got this home, pulled the tv off the wall, fished the HDMI cable through and hooked eveything back up. 20 min later I was watching my first Blue Ray movie.I was amazed, great picture and good digital sound. After the first movie I went through and tweeked everything. Watched another movie picture was even better. Then I put in a reguler DVD and played fine I did not need to up grade the firmware or anything thats the way it should be. I have seen higher priced Blue Rays that dont look this good,or you need to down load info to play older DVDs. Sharp did a good job with this unit. Price, quality, & 10 free movies thats a good combo. The only thing I would like to see is a smaller unit the units are still on the large size, and that goes for all brands.
