"Excellent." on by roqui69
Pros: Make your regular dvd movie look like HD TV program, also is realy fast, and BD disk are spectacular. Comes with HDMI cable.
Cons: I haven't found any problem yet.
Summary: I was looking to buy a Sony BDP-S350 and i found this at Sams Club for the price of $196. I can tell you this is one of the best from Sony. The picture is excellent and i had play a dvd-r, dvd+r, dvd and BD disk all without problem. It is really fast to play any disk. I connected to my Bose system and the sound is spectacular.

"Superb blu-ray player." on by briloop
Pros: Very responsive. Intuitive. You don't have to point the remote directly at the set. Very good picture.
Cons: It doesn't stream Netflix.
Summary: I originally bought a BDP-BX1 at Sam's and loved it, but returned it because it didn't stream Netflix. I bought a Samsung BD-P1590 that streamed Netflix. I had to return it because it developed an unfixable software glitch. I bought the Sony BDP-BX2 at Sam's. I'm glad I did. The movie selection and quality thru Netflix streaming is limited. You don't really need it if you already have Netflix thru the mail. The Sony is superior to the Samsung in responsiveness, use of the remote, and stability of the operating system.

"Great First Blu-Ray Player" on by greendh
Pros: Easy to set up, update, and play movies.
Standard DVD up-convert looks great, blu-ray looks even better.
Some have complained about the small USB port on the back. I have plugged the two thumb drives I have into the port with no troubles at all.Cons: None so far, and I'm pretty critical of the things I buy.
Summary: $239 at Costco is a decent price, it will only go lower from here but I didn't want to wait.
You really can't go wrong. -
"DO NOT BUY THIS BLURAY!!!" on by sonyjunk12
Pros: Great while it lasts.
Cons: After two years of minimal use, the "Welcome" came on and froze there. dIsconnected power and reconnected over a period of time, this player has been dead ever since. Absolutely no power. Contacted Sony and they wanted $111.00 plus tax. Trash!
Summary: Don't buy Sony, used to be quality but no more...at least for Bluray...

"DO NOT BUY THIS BD PLAYER!!!" on by U425
Pros: Great quality picture.
Cons: Slow loading time, BD freezes during playback
Summary: Less than 2 years into this BD player (BDP-BX1) it started to freeze and skip during playback. The discs I played were in perfect condition, so I knew it was a software issue. I contacted Sony and they sent me a firmware update disc (iMac owners cannot download the update online). After the update, I assumed the skiping/freezing would go away. It did not! Even my old discs (which previously played fine) were freezing.
I contacted Sony customer service, and was told to "check the disc" for scratches/prints, and if that did not work, to go to their technical support site. I went to their tech site and was told my model qualified for a "exchange" program. The cost for exchange......$215, plus other fees!!!
I paid $200 for the player in January 2009, why would I pay more for a refurbished one?
Sony basically said that repair costs are so high that the cost for exchange was reasonable. Yeah, right!
BOTTOM LINE:
I am sorely disappointed with this BD player. I had high expectations of Sony products, however, this specific player ruined my opinion of Sony. After a few emails, it was clear to me that Sony could care less. I will never buy a Sony again.
