"Not perfect but much better than what you have read!"
on by TheLazyDog09Pros Nice looking. Great picture for Blu-Ray and DVD.
Cons Reliability is the biggest concern.
Summary I originally decided to purchase the LG BD570 instead of this unit due to a few poor reviews and many quality red flags from other reviews. I was not at all impressed with the LG. The tray was uncomfortable to load discs into and the DVD picture quality was poor. I then realized that most negative reviews of the Toshiba had mostly positive things to say about the picture quality. The player looks very nice, not the best but not as hideous as the Sony with that awful shelf on the bottom! The menus are equal to those on the LG. I don't see what CNET was so critical of. The remote is typical but has some great features like a dimmer button. Load times were equal to my Panasonic for most discs but Dark Knight seemed to take a lifetime to load. As for picture quality... easily equal to my Panasonic and way better than the LG. Blu-Rays look fantastic and DVD's look great. Easily one of the best up converters that I have seen. Online setup is super fast and easy. No problems so far with streaming material except that there could be more available. Hopefully they will update the firmware eventually. So far I am impressed with this purchase and hope that it keeps working. Toshiba has never let me down yet and once again I am impressed by their products.

"Stay AWAY... TOSHIBA lies and refuses to back products."
on by RitaJonsPros Great features to bad they don't last.
Looks modern and hi-techCons Craps out in few months
Sloooooow loading and processing
wi-fi is really crappy
No Phone Customer Support -> Online Forms and lots of emailing
Worst rudest people lve I have ever dealt withSummary I also bought a toshiba product believing they were a reputable brand. It was a top of the line dvd blue ray player to be specific and boy was I wrong. The DVD Player barely work 5 months then started freezing and randomly shutting off. You had to completely unplug everything and then plug it in again as an attempt to reboot the processor. I Also had a top of the line laptop from them that work exactly one year and bit the dust. Absolute worst customer service ever. They literally do not want to talk over the phone about anything -not trouble shooting, warrantees or returns. They want you to fill out lengthy forms email them 20 times fill out more forms and get no where then say oh well you warrantee expired or we do not cover that under our warrantee. The management was absolutely rude and condescending. Ultimately they had a screw you attitude and refuse to back there products. They have reportedly had an increase of better business bureau complaints in the last two years too. I will never ever EVER by anything TOSHIBA again!

"Easily better than the reviews state"
on by StarMenacePros Excellent picture quality. Great Netflix and Pandora interfaces and controls. Wi-Fi is flawless and connects within seconds of turning on the unit. The sound quality is amazing for true HD sound. Regza-link to a Toshiba TV works perfect as well.
Cons Yes, it is a little slow loading discs but not SO much slower than comparable models (within 10-15 seconds). Lack of internal memory is a con but there's a USB 2.0 port on the back and USB drives are fairly inexpensive anyway.
Summary Overal this is a great blu-ray player at an amazing price. The only two things I have not used are the Blockbuster and Vudu players. If they're anything like the Netflix or Pandora then I'm sure they're very nice. Bottom line, highly recommended especially if you can get it for under $175.

"Only works for a week"
on by mayroo1Pros Great when it works
Cons doesn't work for long
Summary the first unit worked for about 5 movies over 2 weeks and then said it couln't connect to our wi-fi and yet after we did all the unplugging and re-plugging and connecting it still wouldn't work yet the wi-fi worked fine. So we exchanged for a new unit. Worked fine over same time period. Then it just froze. Says it's connected but won't play trailers or movies. AND "it's connected" AND NO TOSHIiBA SUPPORT!!!!!
