  • "Lacks important feature in an alarm clock-dependability"
    on by djmisterwilson

Pros The motion sensitive snooze is a great feature. Although the clock is not as loud as you would expect based on its size, it does have excellent sound within its range with little noticeable compression or clipping.

Cons after hitting snooze, the clock occasionally does not go off again as if the alarm was cut off. Sometimes the alarm does not go off at all but i think this is an Iphone glitch. sometimes the unit freezes becoming unresponsive until power cycled.

Summary everything is summarized above...the lack of dependability for such an expensive alarm clock has been disappointing. i may have to replace it although i really like the idea of the motion sensitive snooze.

Really wish the display was bigger and not on the bottom of the unit...I can hardly tell the time with my glasses off...

  • "great sound, lousy alarm"
    on by Daniel F. Pinkerton

Pros Great sound from FM or iPod: rich, full, can easily fill a large bedroom, but sounds equally good when it's on low volume.

Cons Flaky. Every control has a hair-trigger that makes it really easy to get the wrong setting. Only plays wake to iPod in shuffle mode (usually within a given song list, though mine now only shuffles through all song lists). POORLY DESIGNED.

Summary I chose this after trying a couple of other models that sounded great but didn't have the features I wanted. It seemed like a bargain, turned out not to be, and I would have sent it back except for the fact that it almost did what I wanted it to and I thought I could live with the shortcomings. I will soon junk it and get something new.

The Pure-Fi Dream is a truly eccentric product that regularly fails to do what you what you think you set it to do. That could be operator mistakes, but I've had it over a year and don't find it any easier to operate. If anything, it has deteriorated. As noted above, it used to shuffle only within a given playlist when using "wake to iPod" (and there is NO way to override it), but now it shuffles within all songs (and it can't be confined to one playlist).

It has familiar circle and button controls, much like the iPod's. But everything has such a hair trigger that it's easy, for example, to click on the button that sets the hour of your alarm and have it slip to an hour later or earlier. Or to shift from FM to AM, or preset 1 to preset 2. Another aspect that sometimes works and sometimes doesn't is waving your hand over the machine to activate the snooze function. Sometimes I have to wave my arm over it 3 or 4 times to activate it. Other times, I'm making the bed two feet away from it, and a little rush of air will activate the snooze. Go figure.

It does, as I've noted, sound terrific, and it's easy to adjust bass, treble to suit your liking. It sounds equally good playing softly or loudly. But really, you could spend less money and get an iPod dock with speakers in you want that. The Pue-Fi Dream has many great features, and most of them don't work well. My advice is not to waste money on this poorly designed product.

  • "Fantastic sounding alarm clock"
    on by darrkon79

Pros Sounds fantastic, looks great and seems like its going to be a top product. Found this on sale at Good Guys for $250 AUD. Light up buttons are nice as well.

Cons Couldn't find an adapter to work with my iPhone 3GS, you cant seem to control track skip and stuff from the unit.. you have to use the remote or your phones screen. The top of the unit tilts back, so you cant see the buttons from bed.

Summary So far (I havent used this for an alarm clock) I like this product a lot.. Initially I saw it for $500, then $375 then finally $250 at which point I had to buy. While the button layout is odd (you cant see what you are pressing while lying in bed) I am sure I will get used to the button layout.

Overall I think for $250 its a great buy and sounds better then any other $250 alarm clock I have heard before!

  • "Great system, but shop around!"
    on by jamie-white

Pros I love the sound of this system compared to a few other logitech systems

Cons the functions on the system are a little annoying. I was gobsmacked when I noticed certain Harvey Norman Shops trying to fob this system off for $499.00. BE CAREFUL

  • "Logitech Pure-Fi Dream is exactly that"
    on by tsgt2msgt

Pros Surprisingly robust sound from such small speakers. Intuative controls make it easy to control your iPod.

Cons Power supply is way to big for a product of this size and ability.
