  • "Philips delivers with sound on this one"
    on by julesperrot

Pros Amazing sound quality. If you want a simple dock that can play loud and with truly outstanding sound quality, this is a safe bet.

Cons Looks kind of boring. Not many extra features to get excited about..

    Summary Easy buy

  • "Rivals my home theater system at a great price!"
    on by goldlemon1

Pros I've compared Pandora on it to my (expensive) 5.1 HT system and except for the obvious channel separation deficit, the richness of its sound spectrum was truly amazing: clean, crisp and with superb bass!
Docks easily with an Otterbox on my iPhone 4.

Cons The remote is functional but has a limited range. Shop around for prices...not sure I'd have paid list price.

Summary Check this unit out before you commit to higher priced options. You'll be pleasantly surprised at its sound and value if you're price conscious. You won't be disappointed; the tradeoffs will be minimal.

  • "Design problems using "Pure Digital" concept!"
    on by rorreta

Pros Very Nice sound Quality (Sound quality at times better than my Bose SoundDock)
    Deep Bass
    sharp treble
    Clear voice

Cons works fine JUST using the analog input (AUX)
A sort of "CPU overload" on digital data decoding from Iphone makes sound has small cuts all the time

Summary Dutch engineering, China production... what a sadness!!

  • "Do not buy this if you are an audiophile!"
    on by acacial86

Pros Did have great sound compared to the iHome iP3BZC (which we bought to replace and does not sound as good) of the same price. However, if you are looking for a system to really listen to music, and not have playing in the background, do not buy this.

Cons There is a distinct crack/pop/static sound almost like you are listening to a record player when listening to music, that most people who listen to it would not notice, but if you really listen, you will hear it and it will get on your nerves.

Summary We ordered the first one from the Apple store and thought it was a defective product so we exchanged it though Apple. After receiving the second one and it having the same issue we decided to call Philips. Their policy is that they have to replace it twice before you can do anything about it, so in all, we had 4 different speakers all having the same annoying sound problem. We really wish this system did not have this major sound quality issue, because they do sound really great, but it is just not something we want to "live" with if we paid this much. I don't know what the engineering flaw is in their sound that makes every speaker we had have this sound issue, but for $200 speakers, and a good company like Philips, you would think they would figure it out and fix it!
