"Do not buy this if you are an audiophile!"
1.0 starson by acacial86Pros: Did have great sound compared to the iHome iP3BZC (which we bought to replace and does not sound as good) of the same price. However, if you are looking for a system to really listen to music, and not have playing in the background, do not buy this.
Cons: There is a distinct crack/pop/static sound almost like you are listening to a record player when listening to music, that most people who listen to it would not notice, but if you really listen, you will hear it and it will get on your nerves.
Summary: We ordered the first one from the Apple store and thought it was a defective product so we exchanged it though Apple. After receiving the second one and it having the same issue we decided to call Philips. Their policy is that they have to replace it twice before you can do anything about it, so in all, we had 4 different speakers all having the same annoying sound problem. We really wish this system did not have this major sound quality issue, because they do sound really great, but it is just not something we want to "live" with if we paid this much. I don't know what the engineering flaw is in their sound that makes every speaker we had have this sound issue, but for $200 speakers, and a good company like Philips, you would think they would figure it out and fix it!

I am not a techy, but I learned recently that the power outlet I chose to plug my Mac into made a big difference in the playback sound. All I did was move the plug and the "buzzing" was gone. Perhaps, you could try this and the sound that bugs you would disappear. It is worth a try.
