"Yamaha Quality!"
on by IMStatonPros + Sound was great, nice and clear
+ Speaker is nice, sleek and shiny black
+ Easy to set up and controls are intuitive
+ Included optical cableCons - Bass was not deep and pronounced but there was bass
Summary After using the speakers for a few weeks I think I am able to submit a review. The speaker is nice, sleek and shiny black. Thicker than I expected but with the built in sub-woofer, I figured it had to be. It sat neatly in front of my 52" Sharp LCD TV. The feet were high enough to slide next to the television. Setup was a breeze. Straight out of the box and setup in less than 15 minutes.
It came with an optical cable which I attached to my cable box. I had to go and get another one for my blue-ray player. As expected, the sound was great. Nice and clear. I was able to turn it up without any hint of straining the speakers. My wish was that the speaker came with some sort of indicator that gave you what the current sound level was at.
The sound was a concern of mine with any sound bar. I have shopped and listened to a lot of them at all the major retailers and most of them sounded like crud. Speakers sounding like they were pushed way beyond their limit or it sounded like some cheap pc speakers. I was happy with what came out of the Yamaha Sound bar. It gave a nice full and clear sound. Supposedly it has the ability to provide 7.1 channel sound.
Not sure since I am not sure what 7.1 channel is supposed to sound like but it did provide great sound at all areas of the living room. Another feature is that it has built in sub-woofers and it offers the ability to add an external sub-woofer to the system. The bass was not deep and pronounced but there was bass. I guess that's what the external sub-woofer would be for.
Another feature I wish was added is the ability to add a IPOD connection. If it's there, I haven't figured out how to connect it but there isn't an RCA axillary connector to connect the IPOD. That would have been a nice feature. Overall I like this sound bar a lot. It provides great sound and features all in 1 sound bar.
*Note, for low price if you're will buy this Yamaha YAS-101, I suggest you have to compare prices before you decide at: *****************.info/Yamaha-YAS-101

"Not bad and better than stock speakers."
on by bweber85Pros The sound bar is able to learn remote control codes so you don't have to have a separate remote. The pass through is a great feature, and this has a mounting setup so it can easily be put on a wall. There are lots of sound modes too.
Cons For the money there are better sounding systems out there. The speakers are very loud, but without a separate sub the whole system sounds almost empty.
Summary You may want to consider pairing this with a subwoofer and then you will be good to go.

"For money, this is better than most"
on by patriotmedalsoldierPros pleasant sounding
Cons could use subwoofer but this model is better than many many other small speakers here
Summary pair with sub and you won't regret listening to most music material.
