"Finally! one that works" on by pkipnis
Pros: Small foot print, easy set up and reliable performance
Cons: hard to find at retail locations
Summary: After having two D-LINK and one SMC bridges DOA out of the boxes. I had to go to 5 retailers including 3 national chains to find the one WET54G in all of Silicon Valley. The other brands were less expensive but were poorly made given our 3/3 DOA average.
We were online in about 5 minutes after reseting the IP's on our 4 computers and the 3 laser printers on our office network. The documentation is good, the software easy to understand and the wizard works! Imagin that. Lets see how well it lasts, but I think it will be as solid as the Linksys 8 port hub that connects everything.

This thing worked ..... but not for long.

I bought one, but had the hardest time accessing the firmware. Sometimes it would let me in sometimes it wouldn't. it was terribly frustrating, and my IP settings stayed the same. Despite this, I was able to connect to the network. This worked well, for three days. Then I would have to reset the bridge more than 3x a day. My guesss is that maybe I got a bad one. No big deal. So, I went to the store and got a new one.

On the new one, I could access the firmware ANYTIME. Problem solved right? Nope! After about a week of flawless operation, it started dropping connections - like mad. It got to the point where I couldn't connect for more than 20 minutes without a restart.

Purchase number three was from Buffalo Technology. Problem solved. Either I got two bad examples of the WET54G or this thing is JUNK.
