  "Google should have upgraded Firefox instead."

  Pros: The process & memory improvements are good and much needed.

  Cons: Adds another browser product to the market already over-saturated with options.
  Bookmark management needs improvement.

  Summary: The process & memory improvements are much needed and all browsers should incorporate some of these ideas. (Some already have.)
  
  Since Google is working so closely with Mozilla they could and should have integrated their improvements into an existing browser instead of making yet another brand. As a web developer I'm already sick to death of making my sites "work" with the various browsers. Chrome is just one more damned thing to deal with, and all because Google couldn't get past the "not invented here" syndrome.

  are you kidding me, more browsers=more choices, and theres not much browsers, i mean ie, fire fox, safari, opera, and chrome, and well, that is good, cause you can pick one, that safe, or eay to use, or fast, and chrome may not be the safest browser out there, and it takes a bit of time to get used to it, but chrome is the fastest browser out there, so google+ff3=X google+chrome= everybody :D.so gooogle was right in not usin ff anymore, and dropping linux to make chronium or w.e. they are gonna call their os

  I agree that if Google would have pooled resources with Mozilla they could have created an even better browser than FF3.
  
  
  
  Since Chrome is based on webkit (same as Safari) the rendering of Chrome should not be any different than Safari so it should not add any more complexity for web developers. (Hopefully)

  Having more browsers is good for the end user--more options for more platforms. The addition of Chrome (and therefore Google) into the market creates a competitive incentive for developers to improve their products.
  
  I understand your frustration with more standards and additional checkboxes you have to fill as a developer. But I think that the overall benefit is worth the headaches which you have to undergo.
