Manufacturer description
The IVA-D300's PulseTouch Display is easier to use than any other touch panel on the market. It uses different vibrations and pressures that simulates pushing a real mechanical button. When tapping, holding, sliding or touching where there are no commands, You get a different feel at you finger tips. The Menu locations and button positions for different components are always in the same place. This smart layout of buttons, together with their tactical response, ensures that users can quickly and easily find controls without even looking at the screen. The IVA-D300 can command a wide range of Touch Control Ready components, for easy control of an entire system. Unlike traditional screens that simply emulate remote control operation, forcing you to move a cursor to select what you want on the on-screen menu, then push a play button, DVD Menu Direct Touch Control allows you to simply touch the menu option directly to engage it. Since the options on different DVDs are in different places, this is the most intuitive and fastest method for controlling DVDs. With previous on-screen displays, images were in the form of 512 characters, for text display only. The IVA-D300 uses an additional ROM that contains 2, 048 characters, including pictodata. This makes it possible to form high quality images that are nearly as those of the industry-leading IVA-D901.User opinions

Good as a product but not the best Alpine can do.
Pros: Great Screen, cool touch screen features, play dvds while moving, equalizer programs, a lot of customability, ability to watch and play two different things at the same time, multiple functionalities!
Cons: Its expensive at $1600, Alpine peripherals are all VERY expensive, iPod interface isnt the best, many many bugs, screen can break rather easily, lack of EQ customization.

Superb sound and picture. However, there are issues ...
Pros: - Top notch Sound quality, very good to excellent video picture, flexible in term of expandability.
Cons: MediaXpander feature is worthless, it makes the sound muddy and artificially unnatural. Slow to read disc, especially MP3 Disc, no Remote included, make the operation of the unit when closed impossible
By the way, I think the IVA-D300 is a good choice if the price is around $1000.00

Very nice, but is it worth the price?
Pros: I have never paid so much for a car stereo ?. I had one of these Alpines installed in my Viper. The ½ inch dashboard clearance and screen angle makes a perfect fit in my car. The image quality and sound are amazing. I can?t wait to hear it when I repl
Cons: Now for the bad news. 1) Where?s the remote? Even though ½ the fun is playing with the touch screen, there are times I?d like to have the screed retracted. Only thing you can do is adjust Volume and turn the unit off when the screen is retracted. For

Spotty DVD performance and questionable interface
Pros: Like all alpine products, the design is clean and the unit is well built. It looks good sitting in the dash, and the screen is very clear. The sound is fantastic!
Cons: For $1600+, you'd think that they would have ironed out a few things. First, the DVD's that it "chooses" to play will frustrate you to no end. Basically, almost all burned DVD's will give you trouble. And if you expect to hook this up using their iPod int
