"Nice for $99 from zzfly; much better when mod'd"
4.0 starson by mikesmithflPros: Nice format, touch-screen, FM-transmitter, ez2hack, expandable with Micro-SD cards.
Cons: Didn't work out of the box, short battery life (4hrs)
Summary: It's an older model now, but can be updated with newer (not newest) software. Several 3rd party sources for expanding usefulness. WinCE 5... touch-screen works well and easily calibrates. FM transmitter is nice touch - plays through the radio when listening to MP3's or vids BUT won't play through in PND mode and speakers are kinda weak.
I rated it 3 stars, but the site posted 4 stars - wassup?
When I first received it, there was limited documentation and no mention of how to use it, just how to insert battery and turn it on. Should be fine, but just came up with an error - not exactly a show-stopper, but very nearly gave up on it right then. After bingle-ing (bing & google) I found that there's a group of GPS/PND fanatics that love to hack their devices. Since this one loads off the Micro-SD, it's pretty easy to switch to different apps.
Bottom line - if it was still $199 I would have sent it back, but for $99 it's a very worthy companion. I use it daily for commute and occasionally for trips, but sure wish I could get it to interrupt MP3's with trip advice and return to MP3's automatically. Oh, and a function that would repeat that last voice directions sure would be nice. If you're jaw-jacking when the directions get spit out, you can miss it.
